Name of Our School
The name of this school is quite interesting. There are a couple of different reasons for using this particular name. Zebra crossing is known as a crosswalk in some parts of the world. Children usually cross the street using a crosswalk to get to school, so it is very fitting. This term also came about from an African Safari where the Wildebeest and the Zebra travel together through the Serengeti to the Masai Mara parks and meet at a river to cross it.
This is a very dangerous task for them, and much Planning is required, as they trample over one another or drown or get eaten by crocodiles. Once they have crossed the river, they have been successful and can celebrate, but not quite yet, as they are very tired from the task just performed and still have to be alert for carnivores ready to attack. This is an annual occurrence where many tourists travel to see this great event of millions of animals and is known as the 7th wonder of the world.
Zebra Crossing has been operating since 2010. We are excited to expand our school, offering new learning experiences, with a lot of fun and unforgettable moments for years to come. Thank you to all the students and families for their support.

Aliya graduated from the University of Lethbridge with a degree in Business, majoring in Human Resources and Industrial Relations. Aliya worked for A few years in this field gaining tremendous management experience and expertise. Aliya is married and has two sons and 1 daughter. Iliyan, Aryan and Saphira who have all been through the Montessori program. Children and their education have always been her passion from a very young age. She wanted to provide educational services with quality materials and an environment to thrive in. It was at this time that Aliya received a diploma as a trained Montessori teacher through the North American Montessori Centre due to the strong belief in the Montessori philosophy and understood the importance the first few years of a child’s life really are important. Aliya has seen first-hand the results of Montessori and education at young age. It is vital that children have the opportunity to seek education and be well rounded individuals. Early childhood education is becoming a necessity in our world and the results prove how vital it is for children to have a good start and make connections in their brain at such a rapid rate from age 2-6 years of age. She has brought her life’s work and love to Zebra Crossing Montessori and offers what has not been done before. Zebra Crossing Montessori is unique and has an edge over any child care facility in Calgary. It really sets a new standard in this industry. Miss Zahra
I graduated from Mount Royal University in 2012 with a level 2 certificate in Early learning and child care. I have always been around children growing up as my mother was a day home provider. Once I graduated high school I volunteered as a teacher at religious classes for elementary children. It was there I found my passion for teaching and educational crafts. Not only am I living my dream as a teacher, I am also embracing my creative passion for scrapbooking and cardmaking. I have had the pleasure of exploring both daycare and Montessori childcare, and truly believe the Montessori philosophy provides the best experience for young children. Working and seeing firsthand the results of Zebra Crossing Montessori has given me the passion to continue teaching children using the Montessori method. I am currently working on attaining my level 3 certification for Child development supervisor. The greatest sign of success for a teacher is when “the children are working as if I did not exist” Maria Montessori.

Miss Charu
I am very excited to be your child’s new school Teacher for this academic year. I am providing this introduction so that you can have better idea who you are leaving your child with. This is a very important milestone in your child’s life and I am both excited and honoured to be a part of this experience. I plan to work closely with you so that together we can make this a special and rewarding year for everyone. I am a graduate in Business Management and have worked in various fields, one of which has been teaching children. I started off my career with teaching primary and secondary kids in school in India before joining the corporate industry. The corporate world helped me gain experience in team building, people management, supervising, problem solving and fair decision making all while developing an appreciation for cultural diversity. In a span of working for past 20+ years and working at various countries I have developed a better understanding of regional dynamics. Oh!! Did I mention, I am from India. But as mentioned I had an opportunity to live in different parts of the world too. Before moving to Calgary I had lived Singapore for more than a decade. I am mother of 2 boys myself aged 20 and 14 years. Children are so impressionable at this young stage of their lives and I want you to know that I take this responsibility of working with your children very seriously. Their genuine enthusiasm for learning is inspiring and I am honoured to be able to guide them to success as early learners. I have y Montessori certification as well and look forward to using these skills at Zebra Crossing Academy. Together we can insure their happiness and success.

Ms. Gagnon
My name is miss Melanie. I grew up in Montreal, Quebec and like a lot of people, I was only speaking French. I went to high school and did a 2 years Interior Design degree and I decided to go visit Whistler in British Columbia. I felt in love with the west coast. I stayed there for 8 years. I learned English and discovered about all different cultures from around the world and the people. I snowboard, hike, bungee jumps and more… I love the outdoors and love animals. Also, I have been a Montessori Teacher for few years and love it, I love the Montessori way and I wish when I was a baby/toddler that I attended one in Quebec, but there is wasn’t a Montessori there. In Whistler I was forced to learn English, so let me share that it’s not easy and it takes time and confidence to try to speak it fluently and not be shy of mistakes, but I did it. This is the same for children in a new environment like a Montessori. After the Olympic 2010 I went back to Montreal and didn’t feel like home so I moved here to Calgary in 2015 for good! I love it! City stability and the beautiful mountains are only at 45 minutes from here, this is the perfect place to be. Let me work, teach French and have fun with your kids!
Ms. Kainth
My name is Anupreet Kainth. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree, Graduate from India, and I also have an Early Learning Childcare Certificate(LEVEL 2,Early Childhood Educator) from Bow Valley College. I also have two years of experience working with Montessori professional experts. I have been in this profession for the past 6 years.
I have always been passionate to help children grow, since I was a young adult. At an early age, when I saw my own teacher guiding children in the right direction and showing them correct values and etiquette, I knew I wanted to be in the Childcare profession. I would like to create a good academic foundation for children at an early age, which will take them far in life.
I am a mother of two boys. One of which has graduated from the University of Calgary and the other is in high school. I enjoy going shopping and on road trips with my family.
Ms. Lopez
I was born in Bogotá, Columbia and raised in Houston. In 2009 my family settled in Calgary for better work opportunities. Eventually, I moved to Toronto and Ottawa to complete my Bachelors degree and earn experience working with children in a francophone environment. Recently, I moved back to Calgary to further my education and continue my work with children and infants. During my free time I enjoy nature walks and hiking in the Canadian Rockies. I am also an avid runner and a curious book worm.
